StarCraft Game Using A* Algorithm: I devised and implemented a memory and time efficient A* algorithm to solve the problem of navigation of game characters in a grid-based world on the lines of the popular game Starcraft. I coded the same using C++. I wrote customised binary heap and priority queues data stuctures to improve efficiency of algorithm.

Hand Recognition System: I developed an input interface for games based on gesture recognition. I designed a neural network in Matlab to identify hand movements and trained it to recognize different static and dynamic hand gestures.

Push-based Message Application: This application was designed on the principle of peer to peer paradigm. Any peer can start its own channel by registering with the server. The server maintains a list of live peers, their corresponding channels and number of peers subscribed to the channels. A peer can subscribe to other channels, leave channel, remove a subscriber from his channel and delete his channel. Since, each program act as both client and server, I ensured that they maintained at least one thread that is always listening for messages, and at least one other thread that handles the user interface. This program was interoperable in C++ and Java and I made use of POSIX threads, Unix sockets, IP multicasting and applied principles of multithreading.

ATM Application: This application was designed on the principle of client-server principle. The server functions like bank atm which requests user credentials, handles logging issues and processes bank deposits and withdrawals. The server can handle multiple client requests simultaneously using a worker pool of threads. The server and clients were programmed in both C++ and java. Also, I used POSIX threads and Unix sockets for this application.

Java RMI Application: In this application, the server starts a registry on a port. The registry contains a list of methods that can be accessed by the client. The methods are been declared in ServerInterface.java. They have been defined in ServerImplementation.java. The ServerRMI consists a registry of all these methods bound to that port running on server.

Computer Worms: Attacks, Detection and Containment: The paper gives an overview of the classification of worms, propagation techniques, payloads and attackers who deploy these worms. It also describes a few common types of worms in detail. Later the paper reviews the efficiency of worm attack techniques on a comparative basis. It gives taxonomy of worm defense strategies. Since, the most important step of worm containment is worm detection; it describes a few techniques to detect presence of worms on the network along with their pros and cons. The paper ends with examples of recent worm attacks.
